This weekend, the newlywed couple Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi hosted a gala event for the “Yes on Prop 2″ campaign to help raise support and money. California Proposition 2 will be on the November ballot and, if enough voters vote “yes,” will require bigger cages for farm animals and will help stop farm animal abuse. (An animation on the Prop is above.) When I saw this on the news I thought to myself “Shouldn’t they be putting the ‘No on Prop 8′ campaign at the top of their priority list? I mean, they are a newlywed same-sex couple, who can lose their right to be married if Prop 8 passes.” Their event raised about $1 million dollars this weekend, and certainly put this prop in the spotlight all over the media.
How come Ellen and Portia haven’t put in a lot of time to raise awareness about how discriminating Prop 8 really is. Don’t they want to stay married, and not be a “civil union?” Even Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg have donated time and money to the “No on Prop 8″ campaign! I’m hoping that Ellen and Portia will soon plan an event to raise money for the “No on Prop 8″ campaign.
As I was watching the first presidential debate, the first forty or so minutes were mostly about the economy and their policies on spending and taxes. But towards the end, the senators started to focus on the topic of the debate, foreign policy. McCain seemed to hesitate on some questions, while Obama started off the debate really strong with a five-point plan on how to solve this economic crisis. I noticed how confident Obama was and how he calmly corrected McCain, becuase he really needed some correcting since he spun things in Obama’s record and policies. They both had strong points on how they would handle Russia, Iran, and even North Korea.
In my honest opinion, I thought that the debate was a draw, moslty becuase no one candidate had an extremely powerful point. This was their time to shine, but their performances were lackluster.
How funny: John McCain has criticized Barack Obama for his so-called “celebrity status,” yet he has hired an ‘American Idol’ makeup artist to do his makeup for interviews, photos, etc. McCain paid the makeup artist $5,583.43 for her services! (source) Now who is the celebrity?
Could the rumors be true? Will Joe Biden drop out of the vice presidential spot anytime now?
Rumor has it* that Joe Biden, Obama’s VP pick, may drop out from the VP spot becuase of health concerns. Biden and his wife are supposedly awaiting some bad news from their family physician, a diagnosis of some sort, and may decide to step down from his position as vice president for the Democratic ticket, and (this is the exciting part for me) Obama may ask Hillary Clinton to be his VP! AN OBAMA-CLINTON TICKET? IT’S LIKE A GIFT FROM ABOVE.
It’s possible, and it’s not like Obama is replacing Biden, but Biden has health problems that may keep him from doing his job to his full potential. Even Joe Biden himself said that Hillary Clinton would have been the better VP pick! We’ll see what happends between now and the first VICE presidential debate, October 2nd. (First presidential debate this Friday, September 26)
I don’t know what to say about this video. I don’t even know if it is somewhat factual or total b.s. I DO know that I don’t want him as our president, and I didn’t support him before the video.
We’ve all seen John McCain’s attack ad, either on TV or on YouTube, right? If you haven’t, you need to watch the video, above, because it’s pretty low for an attack ad.
Well, I guess Paris Hilton was not very happy with McCain using footage of her in his attack ad against Obama, so she came out on FunnyOrDie.com and gave her two cents on this whole thing, and I’ve got to say that it is pretty funny. To see it now click here.
