This weekend, the newlywed couple Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi hosted a gala event for the “Yes on Prop 2″ campaign to help raise support and money. California Proposition 2 will be on the November ballot and, if enough voters vote “yes,” will require bigger cages for farm animals and will help stop farm animal abuse. (An animation on the Prop is above.) When I saw this on the news I thought to myself “Shouldn’t they be putting the ‘No on Prop 8′ campaign at the top of their priority list? I mean, they are a newlywed same-sex couple, who can lose their right to be married if Prop 8 passes.” Their event raised about $1 million dollars this weekend, and certainly put this prop in the spotlight all over the media.
How come Ellen and Portia haven’t put in a lot of time to raise awareness about how discriminating Prop 8 really is. Don’t they want to stay married, and not be a “civil union?” Even Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg have donated time and money to the “No on Prop 8″ campaign! I’m hoping that Ellen and Portia will soon plan an event to raise money for the “No on Prop 8″ campaign.
In California, there is a proposition, Proposition 8, on the November ballot that, if enough people vote ‘Yes,’ will ban same-sex marriage in California and will only recognize marriage between a man and woman. I personally believe that marriage is for any couple, gay or straight, that is in love. And now search engine giant Google has, for the first time, PUBLICLY stated that is opposed to Prop 8 on their official blog. They believe that
We should not eliminate anyone’s fundamental rights, whatever their sexuality, to marry the person they love.
Today was AMAZING. I went to Disney’s California Adventure with my best friends Myka and Jordan and it was a blast! I finally went on Toy Story Mania and it has to be one of my favorite rides. After that we went on California Screamin’ (not once, but three times total)! My throat still hurts from screaming so much! Hahaha. Then, we had lunch at Pacific Wharf Cafe and I had corn chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and it was absolutely delicious! But it was too much for me to eat, so I had to throw away most of it… I felt so guilty. hahaha. Myka had a salad in a sourdough bread bowl and she too had too much and had to throw away the rest. All three of us were stuffed, but then right after that we went on California Screamin’ then on the Hollywood Tower of Terror. hahaha. I was glad that I didn’t puke. After that, we went on the Ferris wheel on the pier while I enjoyed a sour watermelon slushy in my High School Musical souvenir cup. hahaha. yup. I’m cool like that. After that, we went home to relax a little before heading over to Nicole’s house, where we watched MTV’s NEXT and laughed our asses off. To top off the night, we stopped at Rite Aid and got some ice cream to calm or cravings. Hahaha. I’ll upload pics tomorrow.
Today was pretty LAME, and I think that’s an understatement. I love my family, but today my dad forced me and my sister to go with him and our step-mom to Perris, CA. Now, Perris is not like Orange at all. AT ALL. I like to call ghettotown, ghettoville, ghettocentral. It’s a scary place and I didn’t enjoy the triple-digit heat, either. Yeah, that’s it for today, I’m tired and I’m going to Disneyland tomorrow. Peace.
